In 1975, Portuguese architecture students Mário Ramos and Fernando Barroso  radical project called ‘Insurrectional Organization of Space’. A provocative ironic presentation of political and ideological power prioritising comprehensive freedom. A pastiche of Fernando Távora's ‘The Organisation of Space’ they promoted the idea that architecture can be a force of ‘cultural production’ rather than merely constructing physical space.

Their playful use of comic book tropes and pop culture aimed to draw in a broader audience. Their aim was to “stimulate the individual to exercise his imagination and creativity in appropriation of space, in the revolution of everyday life”.
