A competition design for Bromma Airport in Sweden by architect Erik Gunnar Asplund.

Asplund is predominantly remembered for his focus on functionalism, but this illustration is a playful departure. Colour is given primacy over form with the majority of the painting a serene and beautiful blue.  The airport itself seems almost inconsequential.  Yet, the juxtaposition works and the entire scene comes alive with the joyful interplay of line and colour.

His most famous work is Stockholm’s Public Library, hailed by critics as one of the finest examples of Scandinavian Classicism.
